SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING (SIL)

Supported Independent Living services (SIL) aim to assist our clients to live as independently as possible while building their daily living skills and daily tasks.

SIL is most commonly used in shared home arrangements where we assist our clients with personal care tasks while supporting them to maintain or increase their independence level in daily life.

What does Supported Independent living include?

  • Support with supervision, safety and security.

  • Assistance with personal care tasks.

  • Assistance with capacity building tasks (meal prep and cooking, cleaning, routine development, etc.) for those with very high support needs.

  • Behaviour support and social skill development for better independent living.

  • Administration of medication.

  • Support for medical appointments.

  • Community access that is not routine or regular (e.g. support to complete personal tasks).

  • Support to get to/from easy access to community activities and public transport (where this is the participant’s preference).
